The Calico Club has assembled some of the brightest names from the worlds of design, interiors and beyond to be part of our steering committee. Together they will set the tone for what our calendar of events will look like.
David Mlinaric
David Mlinaric has been in the business of interiors for 55 years. His contribution was recognised in 2009, when he was awarded a CBE for services to interior design and heritage.

Maria Speake
Maria Speake has long set the pace for sustainable design with her judicious and creative use of reclaimed materials. She was named House & Garden’s Interior Designer of the Year in 2019.

Alexandra Shulman
Alexandra Shulman is the former editor-in-chief of British Vogue. She has published several books and is a columnist for the Mail on Sunday.

Lulu Lytle
Lulu Lytle is the co-founder of Soane Britain. She is a champion of traditional craftsmanship and over the last two decades has cultivated close relationships with a talented network of makers across the country.

Ben Pentreath
Ben Pentreath runs an architectural and interior design studio in London. He has been increasingly involved in the design and delivery of Poundbury, the Duchy of Cornwall’s urban extension to the town of Dorchester and has also published several books.

Skye McAlpine
An author, cook and The Sunday Times columnist, Skye McAlpine lives between London and Venice. Her book ‘A Table in Venice: Recipes from My Home’ was published in 2018 to rave reviews.

Yinka Ilori
Yinka Ilori is a London based multidisciplinary artist, who fuses his British and Nigerian heritage to tell new stories in contemporary design. His work is humorous and provocative in equal measure.

Beata Heuman
Interior designer Beata Heuman launched her design studio in 2013 and in 2018 won the inaugural House & Garden Interior Designer of the Year Award.

Martin Brudnizki
Martin Brudnizki founded his eponymous design studio in 2000. The team now comprises over 70 people, with offices in London and New York.

Kit Kemp
Kit Kemp is the co-owner and creative director of Firmdale Hotels, a group of luxury hotels in London and New York. She is also an author and a textiles and homewares designer.

Rachel Chudley
Interior designer Rachel Chudley is known for her creative interiors and distinctive use of colour and texture. In 2019, she won the House & Garden Rising Star Award.

Shalini Misra
Shalini Misra is an award-winning architect and interior designer who won the House & Garden Project of the Year award in 2018. Shalini has deep-rooted connections with the world of craft and contemporary art, as can be seen in her dazzling projects.

Emma Bridgewater
Emma Bridgewater Ltd is now one of the largest employers of potters in Stoke-on-Trent. In
recognition of her work championing manufacturing, Emma was awarded a CBE for Services to Industry.

Bridget Elworthy and Henrietta Courtauld
Bridget Elworthy and Henrietta Courtauld are The Land Gardeners. The pair specialise in the design of productive gardens and run a thriving cut-flower business.

Luke Irwin
Luke Irwin has been designing and selling hand-knotted, custom made rugs since 2003. He is a stalwart of the Pimlico Road design district.

House & Garden

Hatta Byng
Hatta has been editor of House & Garden since 2014, having worked at the magazine since 2006. She has lived and breathed interiors and all that goes with them from a young age – her first job was in interior design.

Emily Tobin
Emily is the creative director of The Calico Club. She has worked at House & Garden for nine years, most recently as features editor. She is also the editor of the magazine’s arts pages and is delighted to be launching The Calico Club.

Emma Redmayne
As Publishing Director of The World of Interiors for twenty years and of House & Garden for the last four, Emma’s little black book of the interior design industry is second to none. She is just as inspired today as she was at the beginning of her career by the creativity and ceaseless energy of the ever-evolving industry.
